Mahjong Gift Ideas for Every Player and Budget

Mahjong tile keychains with wind and dragon tiles on a green mat

Mahjong players love their game, which makes them easy to shop for, as long as the gift fits the set and table they already have. Here are ideas at every budget. Prices are our own ranges at the time of writing.

Small gifts, around $15 to $35

Mid-range gifts, around $30 to $65

Bigger gifts, $55 and up

Holiday gifts

For December game nights, our Christmas mahjong mats and tile sets make the table festive.

Gifts for a new player

Someone just learning will use a mat with printed rules or Charleston markings every week, and a card holder that keeps the card readable while they learn. Point them to our beginner checklist too.

Gifts for the host

The person who hosts the weekly game supplies the table. A second mat, a mat bag, scoring chips and extra dice are all welcome; see our hosting essentials.

Order early for the holidays

We prepare orders in 1 to 3 business days and most arrive within 4 to 10 business days in total, so order at least two weeks before you need the gift.

Three questions before you buy

  1. What size are their tiles? Racks and cases are made for a tile size.
  2. What table do they play on? It decides the mat size.
  3. Do they already have the basics? If yes, go for a second set, a travel set or a bag.

The yearly card of hands is published and sold by the National Mah Jongg League, so order it from them if you want to include it. Not sure what to choose? E-mail support@erafav.com and we will help.
